Preventing just one claim resulting from an unmanaged chronic disease saves a significant amount of money,
and greatly outweighs the cost of the Disease Management program at BAS.
At BAS, we believe disease management is essential to controlling health care costs.
Consider the following:
"Four modifiable health risk behaviors – lack of physical activity, poor nutrition, tobacco use, and excessive alcohol consumption – are responsible for much of the illness, suffering, and early death related to chronic diseases. Chronic diseases account for $3 of every $4 spent on healthcare.”
-National Center for Chronic Disease
Prevention and Health Promotion
Through our Disease Management program, members are provided with the right tools, experts, and equipment to make lifestyle and behavioral changes and demonstrate increased care compliance.
Participating members receive HIPAA compliant, customized outreach for their lifestyle and condition(s) with a trained nurse assisting them in setting and achieving goals. Labor costs (specifically: absenteeism, presenteeism, and direct insurance expenses) can be minimized as a result of this program.
The most common risk categories that our Disease Management program handles are:
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
